If you are following the news regarding the “Do Not Use” order for Lake Jackson residents related to the discovery of the Naegleria fowleri in that city’s drinking water system, it’s understandable to have questions about the safety of our local drinking water. Below are some facts about this specific amoeba, as well as what the cities of Bryan and College Station are doing to ensure the safety of your water supply.
On Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, the City of Bryan Municipal Office building and all other city administrative offices will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday and will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. The following offices will also be closed:
- Bryan Animal Center
- Bryan+College Station Library System (Clara B. Mounce Public Library and Carnegie History Center)
- Community Development Office
- Coulter Field
- Parks and Recreation Office
- Neal Recreation Center
Bryan Municipal Court
The Bryan Municipal Court will be closed Sept. 7. Any documents or payments due to the Court that day will only be accepted on Sept. 8.
Solid Waste and Brush/Bulky Pick-Up
Residential solid waste and brush/bulky pick-up service routes will run on the normal schedule.
Public Works Call Center
The Public Works Call Center will be closed Sept. 7 and will resume normal operating hours on Sept. 8. Residents with traffic, water, sewer or utility needs may call 979.822.3777 for after-hours assistance.
Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU)
The BTU main office will be closed on Sept. 7 and will resume normal operating hours on Sept. 8. To make a bill payment with cash, credit or check, please visit one of the kiosks at any of the following locations (please note, these locations may have separate holiday hours):
- H-E-B, Texas Avenue and State Highway 21
- H-E-B, 725 E. Villa Maria Road
- BTU office drive-through, 205 E. 28th St. (open 24 hours)
