Community Development Collaborates With Stylecraft Builders, Inc., Rebuilding Together BCS for a Day of Caring
The City of Bryan’s Community Development Department, Stylecraft Builders, Inc. and Rebuilding Together BCS are collaborating for a one-day event Friday, November 2, 2018, to serve by improving the housing conditions of vulnerable families such as the elderly, disabled or those with limited incomes. The partnership is an idea shared by all three entities focusing on neighborhood improvements, housing conditions, and providing healthy, safe environments for families.
WHAT: Day of Caring
WHEN: Friday, November 2, 2018 – 8 AM
WHERE: Corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Sims Street in Bryan, Texas
“Stylecraft is committed to serving in the communities in which we build and live in a variety of ways,” states Doug French, CEO of Stylecraft. “This is the first year we have put our volunteer efforts into doing minor home repairs. It seemed a natural fit to collaborate with the City’s Community Development Department, whose mission is to provide safe and affordable housing for targeted populations through their housing programs, as well as Rebuilding Together, a local housing nonprofit. We have asked our business partners to join with us on these projects such as G&W Electric, Bass Plumbing, Detering Company, Seamless Gutters, Antonio’s Carpet Service and Enercon Windows and have over 57 volunteers ready to go on Friday. We hope to continue this effort every year.”
Rebuilding Together BCS’s Executive Director Steve Godby states, “We have partnered with Community Development on many minor housing improvements in the past and I am excited that Stylecraft and their partners have joined us and are committed to making a change in our community through volunteer efforts and resources. The mission of Rebuilding Together is to improve the quality of life of homeowners in need by volunteers and communities rebuilding together homes and neighborhoods. This is a community effort!”
Community Development works with families to improve the health and safety of their home through various federally funded programs. Eligible owner occupied households in Bryan may be provided direct funding assistance through in-house programs or through volunteer partnerships like the Stylecraft Care Day Model, when available.
