Old Hearne Road, Wilkes Street Intersection Reconstruction Begins April 17th

Old Hearne Road/Wilkes Road Closure

On Monday, April 17th, contractors will begin reconstruction of the Old Hearne Road and Wilkes Street intersection in the Lynndale Acres neighborhood. Crews will install new water and sanitary sewer lines, complete culvert improvements, and resurface the roadway in this phase of the Old Hearne Road/Wilkes Street infrastructure improvements project. Detours will be in place to guide traffic around the work area. Please note this intersection will remain closed for the next several weeks.

For those that typically walk to Bonham Elementary School from the north along Old Hearne Road, please note you will be detoured to a temporary crossing of Old Hearne Road at McHaney Drive. From here, pedestrians may walk north along Missouri Avenue and return to Old Hearne Road via Glacier Drive.

WHAT:           Intersection Closure

WHERE:         Old Hearne Road and Wilkes Street

Work began on this multi-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project in August 2016. Please note Missouri Avenue (between Russell Drive and Willhelm Drive), Willhelm Drive (between Montana Avenue and Old Hearne Road), and Old Hearne Road (between Wilkes Street and Willhelm Drive) will continue to be impacted. Work will be performed from 7 AM until 5 PM, excluding the weekends.

This CIP project includes infrastructure improvements for Wilkes Street, Old Hearne Road, Willhelm Drive, and Missouri Avenue. Drivers are encouraged to follow the posted detour signage, utilize alternate routes, and allow extra travel time during the construction period. In addition, drivers are asked to please use caution and pay special attention when traveling through the construction area.
