    Small business recovery assistance available

    Downtown Bryan

Due to the significant impact that the coronavirus/COVID-19 is having on Bryan’s small business community, Bryan Mayor Andrew Nelson has appointed a Small Business Support and Recovery Task Force to help guide the city’s strategy in supporting small businesses through the next several months into recovery.

“As an entrepreneur and small business owner, I am inspired by our city’s small businesses,” Nelson said. “Bryan is one of America’s great cities for small business. The Bryan City Council is committed to ensuring the City of Bryan does everything it can to support them during this health crisis and through recovery.”

The task force currently focuses on restaurants and hotels, which have been most immediately impacted by COVID-19. The city anticipates that more industries will be added in the coming weeks and months.

“This is just the first wave of assistance to our business community,” Nelson said. “Mayor Pro Tem Greg Owens is leading the effort to identify how the City of Bryan can help small businesses in all industries weather this difficult situation.”

Additional information about how the City of Bryan is planning to assist small businesses through the situation will be coming soon. For more information on the city’s small business initiatives, please contact Todd McDaniel, tmcdaniel@bryantx.gov, (979) 209-5070.

    Small Business Recovery Website

Amid the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to provide our local small-business owners with a one-stop-shop where you can learn about and apply for federal, state, and local financial support and recovery programs.

We want to make this process as easy as possible. That’s why we’re providing contact information for specific local experts if you need one-on-one help. We’re also making sure that these online resources are focused solely on the needs of small businesses, and that they are trusted and reliable sources of information.

What the Public Can Do Now to Help

While the city is working toward establishing a number of initiatives over the coming weeks to assist with recovery, we ask for the public’s immediate help to support Bryan’s small businesses and their employees during this public health crisis.

    • Use delivery, drive-through and takeout services.
    • Patronize businesses by shopping and ordering from local stores online.
    • Purchase gift cards that can be used in the future.
    • Leave positive reviews online for your favorite businesses
