It’s spooky season! Here are some family-friendly events and safety tips to make the most of the season.

Halloween Safety
The City of Bryan does not set an alternate trick-or-treating date or set hour, but recommends it take place between 6-8 p.m.
Prepare
- Children should always be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
- Carry flashlights and wear glow sticks or reflective items.
- Make sure costume props such as knives or swords are flexible.
While Trick-or-Treating
- Watch for cars when crossing the street, and cross only at crosswalks or corners.
- Remove masks or other items that might block vision before crossing.
- Join with friends and have large groups walk together.
- Only visit homes with porch lights on.
- Stick to well-lit streets and use sidewalks when possible.
- Do not eat unwrapped candy or food. Parents should inspect all items and throw away anything suspicious or unwrapped.
Residents
- Drive slowly and stay alert for children crossing the street.
- If you’re handing out treats, you can help by:
- Turning on porch lights.
- Avoid using open flames and move lit pumpkins away from walkways.
- Clearing sidewalks and driveways of trip hazards.
- Considering alternative treats, such as stickers, or allergy-friendly candy.
- Please be respectful of your neighbors!
- Contact the Bryan Police Department at 979-209-5300 if you see any suspicious activity.
