Dog Parks

Dog Park at Morris “Buzz” Hamilton Park

Amenities:

This 5-acre state-of-the-art dog park facility is located off Park Hudson Trail between Highway 158 and Copperfield Drive, and boasts three separate play areas for dogs of varying sizes, as well as doggy water fountains, gravel walking trails, and nighttime lighting available until 10 p.m.

Located near the Bryan Municipal Golf Course, Astin Recreational Area is a great location to have a family picnic and enjoy feeding the ducks on Municipal Lake. The park also includes a 1/2 mile walking/jogging trail.

Austin’s Colony Park is located in the Austin’s Colony subdivision behind Harvey Mitchell Elementary School. This park offers several amenities that give everyone of all ages something fun to do including 1 1/2 mile jogging/walking trail. Whether you are looking for a place for a birthday party or wanting to play basketball, this park has what you are looking for and more.

Located on the north side of Bryan, this is the perfect park for a family outing. Plenty of open space and parking, as well as playground units, lighted tennis courts, practice baseball/softball backstops and soccer goals, 1 mile of walking/jogging trail, restrooms, a lighted basketball court, and a picnic pavilion and picnic tables with BBQ grills is available. The park is also home to the Model Railroad Clubhouse.


Camelot Park

This serene Park, across Villa Maria Rd. from Blinn College is home to a professionally designed 9-hole disc golf course (medium-advanced level) and a short 1/4 mile walking trail. If disc golf is your passion, try this course out. (21 acres)

Located just off East HWY 21 @ Hooper St. (close to Coulter Airfield), this community park boasts two playground units, a lighted basketball court, picnic tables with BBQ grills, restrooms and parking. (7 acres)


Cherry Park

One of the newest parks in town, it is named after Bob Cherry who donated funds towards development of the playground at Johnson Elementary School into a neighborhood park. Amenities include a large playground unit, swings, a 1/3 mile walking/jogging trail, practice baseball/ softball backstops and soccer goals, a basketball court, a small picnic shelter, and a 6 hole disc golf course (beginner level). (5 acres)


Copperfield Park

Located on Canterbury Drive, in the heart of the Copperfield Subdivision, this small neighborhood park has plenty to offer. Tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, practice soccer goals, playground units, picnic tables and a large picnic pavilion with BBQ grills is available. (6 acres)


Crescent Park

This heavily wooded park is nestled in a residential neighborhood west of Texas Ave., bounded by Crescent and Hensel Drives. It has a 1/3 mile walking trail, benches, water fountain, and practice baseball/softball backstop. During the Spring season, it is home to a beautiful wildflower area. (2 acres)


Federal Park

Located across the street from the Municipal Services Center on Waco St., this park has one of the most striking stand of post oaks in Bryan. the Park currently has two practice baseball/ softball backstops. (5 acres)


Garden Acres Park

This neighborhood Park is located on Garden Acres Dr., between Carter Creek Pkwy and Texas Ave. Located within the park is the historic South Family Cemetery. It also has a practice baseball/softball backstop. (1 acre)


Gloria Stephan Sale Park

Address: Main Street between W. 28th and W. 29th Streets

Gloria Stephan Sale Park, developed through a private improvement fund, was dedicated in November 2008. Additional improvements include landscaping, seating, lighting and a fountain/splash pad.

Sale Park is also home to a Texas Historical Commission marker recognizing the impact of railroads on Bryan. A depot was erected on land that is currently Sale Park in 1900, and hosted numerous social events and railroad activities until it was torn down in 1990.

Sale Park is an important location for many Downtown Bryan events, including the Lights On! holiday lighting ceremony, the Texas Reds Steak & Grape Festival, and the monthly First Friday events.

With the new expansion in 2004, this is Bryan’s largest community park. The park is located on the west side of Bryan, off Palasota Drive and Beck St., across from Milam Elementary School. There are lighted baseball and softball fields, lighted soccer fields, several playground units, some with rubber surfacing underneath, over twenty picnic tables with BBQ grills, restrooms, two picnic pavilions, two basketball courts, one of which is covered and lighted, a skateboard park, a 3/4 mile walking/jogging trail and nature area, several practice baseball/softball backstops and soccer goals, and even a swimming pool with a large water slide and spray attractions. The complex is also home to Little League West. (52 acres)


Heritage Park

Donated to the City of Bryan by the Brazos Heritage Society in 1993, Heritage Park is a neighborhood park with an historical flair. The gazebo in the middle of the park is named after Matthew Winsper Knobel and is very popular for hosting outdoor weddings. The beautiful Memoire sculpture was donated by Margueritte Gardner in 2001 in remembrance of her mother. Also located in the park are exact replicas of the picnic tables and benches from the old Stephen F. Austin High School. The park is host to a 4th of July Parade and Celebration each year. Jane Long School Park

This is a joint City/School Park that is located adjacent to Jane Long Middle School. The Park has 8 lighted tennis courts, a lighted and covered basketball pavilion, practice baseball/softball backstops and soccer goals, and a 1/2 mile long walking/jogging trail. (26 acres)


Billie Madeley Park

This is truly a joint Park between the City of College Station and the City of Bryan. The property was donated to College Station by the Madeley Family to become a nature area with a 1 mile walking trail. The only access to the Park is through Bryan, off of Sunny Lane.

Neal Park was developed in 1998 from renovations to the existing Williams Park. The site is the location of Bryan’s Recreation Center as well as the first in-line hockey rink in town. The park has a large picnic pavilion with BBQ grills, a lighted sand volleyball court, a lighted tennis court, restrooms, a community garden, a covered and lighted basketball court, several playground units with rubber surfacing underneath, a practice soccer/football field, and even a covered and lighted outdoor classroom amphitheater. (12 acres)


Redbud Park

This is a pocket park located in the Oakwood Terrace subdivision, off of South College Ave. The Neighborhood Association has added a nice walking path, landscaping, benches and a beautiful gazebo to the property.


Sadie Thomas Memorial Park

This large park on the eastside of Bryan, off of East MLK, has been a popular site for recreation for many years. The park boasts two large picnic pavilions, one with a kitchen, restrooms, a covered and lighted basketball court as well as an additional two courts close by. There are two soccer fields and a lighted practice baseball field available. The park also has a swimming pool that is open in the Summer for everyone to enjoy. (15 acres)


Sam Rayburn School Park

This is a joint City/School Park that is located adjacent to Sam Rayburn Middle School. The park has 8 lighted tennis courts, a lighted and covered basketball pavilion, practice baseball/ softball backstops and soccer/football goals, a 1/3 mile walking/jogging trail, horseshoe pits, and several picnic tables with BBQ grills. The park also has a playground unit and exercise area that is specifically designed for physically handicapped individuals, including a running cable for the visually impaired. (23 acres)


San Jacinto Park

Scurry Park

This is the oldest park in Bryan established in the 1890’s and originally named Oak Grove Park. Some of the city’s most beautiful Post Oaks are located here. The neighborhood park is located on Wellington St., adjacent to the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks. The park has two playground units, swings, restrooms, a picnic pavilion and picnic tables with BBQ grills, a practice baseball/softball backstop, a lighted basketball court and a 1/2 mile jogging/walking trail.(7 acres)


Shirewood Park

This park has it all! One of the oldest and most popular parks in Bryan, it was donated to the City by Tyler Haswell, honoring his mother, on June 12, 1925. Newly renovated, the park is the site of the “Path of Presidents” and “Aquatic Liberty Garden”. Also available are three large picnic pavilions, a 24 court horseshoes complex, a swimming pool, numerous picnic tables with BBQ grills, and a large playground unit with rubber surfacing underneath. The park is also home of the Sandy Koufax/Pony Baseball League. (19 acres)


Symphony Park

This popular family park is located on Carter Creek Parkway and Tanglewood Drive. Beautiful landscaping and two separate walking paths, one paved, add to the experience of the area. There is a large picnic pavilion and several picnic tables with BBQ grills available. New restrooms, swings, and play ground units make this a fun day outing. The park also has lighted tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, and several practice soccer goals. A brand new splash pad has been added to the park that is sure to cool the kids down in the summer’s heat. (19 acres)

This popular park is located next to Bowen Elementary School, off Copperfield Drive. This park is ideal for large gatherings and family reunions. (12 acres)

Located on Bryan’s west side, on Villa Maria Ave. and adjacent to Mary Branch Elementary School. This park packs a lot of activities into a small space. It is a great place for family gatherings, picnics, and large events. A large picnic pavilion and ten picnic tables with BBQ grills are available. Also in the park are tennis courts, a covered and lighted basketball court, a lighted sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, two covered playground units, a covered and lighted outdoor classroom amphitheater, and practice baseball/softball backstops and soccer goals. There are also 1/2 mile of paved walking paths. (10 acres)

This park is the site of the new African American National Heritage Society Museum. It is located on East MLK St. between Houston St. and Preston St. across from the North Bryan Community Center. (1 acre)


Williamson Park

This park is home to the area’s first skateboard park. Skateboard ramps were installed on an old tennis court slab in 2003. The ramps are fenced and lighted. The park is located on Williamson Drive, on the shores of the Municipal Lake across from the Municipal Golf Course. The park also has restrooms, two picnic pavilions with BBQ grills, a basketball court and a large playground unit.


Winchester Park

Bryan Tennis Center

The Bryan Tennis Center is located in Austin’s Colony Park adjacent to Harvey Mitchell Elementary School. The complex has three lighted, covered tennis courts. The facility includes a sound system and two sets of bleachers.

The Gymnasium is designed for multi-use programming and is equipped with a curtain, which allows it to divide in half. The meeting rooms and gymnasium are available for rental.
A state-of-the-art Fitness Room, with the latest in Cybex exercise equipment, is open to patrons 18 years and older throughout the day.

The Teen Room is available to individuals 13 years and up, featuring two foosball tables, two pool tables, and air hockey.
The Classrooms include an arts and crafts room, multi-media room, and multi-purpose room.

Trails

Rosewood Trail

This heavily wooded asphalt walking/jogging trail winds for 3/4 mile along Turkey Creek in the Rosewood Subdivision. The trail head is located at West Villa Maria and Shirewood Dr. It is the perfect trail for a leisurely walk or jog. (7 acres)


Booneville Trail

This 12 foot wide jogging/walking/biking trail follows highway 158 for 3 1/4 miles from highway 6 to highway 30.


Park Hudson Trail

Amenities:

This 59 acre property is located along Hudson Creek, from FM 158 to behind Decision One on University Drive. It is a heavily wooded area with abundant wildlife that is a buffer zone between the residential neighborhood and the business developments along University Drive. The trail connects to Tiffany Park on one end and has 2 1/4 miles of trails.


South College Avenue Bike Lanes
