Graduate Internship Program

The Bryan City Manager’s Office offers a paid, full-time summer internship for graduate students in public administration, business administration or related fields. The 10-week program is designed for students interested in a career in local government.

Interns will engage in research and analysis projects, draft a variety of documents, and attend City Council and committee meetings, gaining firsthand experience with municipal operations and management. They may also support other departments on specialized projects and participate in professional events that provide networking opportunities with government leaders across Texas.

The program delivers immersive, real-world experience that prepares participants to step confidently into roles across the public and private sectors.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be enrolled in a master’s program in public administration, business administration or a related field, and show strong interest in public service, leadership ability and teamwork skills.

The job typically posts in early January, with interviews in February and March. The internship runs a minimum of 10 weeks from approximately May to August.

All candidates are required to complete the online application process for employment on the city's jobs website. Unless specifically requested, applications, resumes and other documents should not be sent directly to the City Manager’s Office. The scope of projects may vary greatly year to year, but interns should expect interaction with most City departments. The hiring process may include interviews, exams, drug testing and background checks. Some positions may require a valid Texas driver license with a good driving record.
