Hotel/Motel Tax
The City of Bryan’s hotel/motel tax rate is 7% of the price paid for any room or space rented within the City limits of Bryan. Per City Ordinance No. 1742, “each calendar month is a reporting period and the taxes imposed by and collected under this Article are due and payable to the chief financial officer on or before the 20th day of the month following the end of each calendar month. If a taxpayer owes less than $500 for a calendar month or $1,500 for a calendar quarter, the taxpayer qualifies as a quarterly filer having a reporting period of a calendar quarter and the taxes are due and payable on the 20th day after the end of the calendar quarter. Payment should be remitted in the form of check or money order. Payment must be accompanied by a copy of the City of Bryan Hotel Occupancy Tax report and a copy of the Texas Hotel Occupancy Report submitted to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. There are three entities who collect hotel/motel occupancy taxes in Bryan: The State of Texas, Brazos County, and the City of Bryan itself.
The total hotel/motel tax rate in Bryan is 15.75% and is broken down this way:

The City of Bryan’s hotel/motel tax rate is 7% of the price paid for any room or space rented within the City limits of Bryan.
Vending Machine Permits
City of Bryan Ordinance provides for an occupation tax on Coin Operated Machines (music, skill and pleasure) in the City of Bryan. This is an annual tax and the amount is one-forth (1/4th) of the fee payable to the State of Texas.
