Water & Electric Services

Water and electric services are provided through Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU). For non-emergency issues such as street light outages, downed or low hanging power wires, issues with power poles, trees or other electrical equipment please utilize the online form below.

Natural gas is provided through Atmos Energy.

Trash Collection

Trash service is connected to your water and electric service with BTU. If your lights are on, then you have trash collection services. Residential collection services are performed Monday through Thursday. Bryan residents are provided with one 95-gallon container for use and receive collection service once per week. Additionally, Bryan residents can, at no cost, dispose of large items such as furniture, appliances and large tree branches by utilizing our Brush & Bulky service once per week.

New residents: If you have established a BTU account, please check to ensure there is a container at your residence. If not, please contact the Public Works Call Center at 979-209-5900.

Recycling

The city itself doesn’t offer curbside recycling for household items, but there are some private-entity options. The City of Bryan does operate a used oil and tire recycling center that allows Bryan residents to properly dispose of used oil, filters, cooking grease and tires from residential use free of charge.

Bryan Animal Center

The Bryan Animal Center (BAC) cares for our community’s lost or stray animals. The center also tries to help reunite these lost animals with their previous owners, or if that is not possible, find them new forever homes. Additionally, BAC hosts quarterly rabies vaccination and microchip clinics free to Bryan residents.

Bryan’s Police (BPD) and Fire Departments (BFD) are two of the best in the country. Their combined efforts keep the community as safe as possible.

The City of Bryan does not have outdoor sirens for severe weather. In emergencies, the Brazos Community Emergency Operations Center may send out notifications via text message.

Over the last 10 years, there has been a 41% reduction in Part 1 crimes, and BPD is only one of 3% of agencies nationwide to be accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies.

Bryan Fire Department

BFD is one of 400 agencies nationwide to have an Insurance Services Office (ISO) Class 1 top rating, and its EMS service is one of 11 agencies in Texas to be accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulances Services.

Local Government

City of Bryan

The City of Bryan utilizes a council/manager form of government. The seven-member city council consists of a mayor and six councilmembers, with one councilmember elected at-large and the other five elected from single-member districts. The mayor and councilmembers are elected for alternating four-year terms with eight-year term limits. The role of the City Council is to enact ordinances and resolutions, adopt regulations, and set policy direction for the conduct of the affairs of the city. City Council regular meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

Brazos County

As the county seat, the City of Bryan sits within Precincts 2 and 4 of Brazos County. The County government consists of a County Judge and a four-member Commissioner’s Court. For more information about Brazos County, visit the county’s official website below.

Bryan ISD

The Bryan Independent School District provides education for pre-K through 12th grade. Additionally, Bryan is home to several different private schools of various focuses.

Brazos Valley Transit District

The Brazos Valley Transit District (BVTD) provides residents convenient and affordable transportation throughout Bryan and College Station. BVTD offers fixed routes, ADA paratransit service, and demand and response. Texas A&M and Blinn students ride for free.

Aggie Spirit

Texas A&M University students, faculty and staff can hop on the Aggie Spirit buses offering transportation to and from campus to various locations off-campus such as residential and shopping areas.

Park in Downtown Bryan and catch a free ride to the gridiron with the City of Bryan’s Gameday Shuttle. Running three hours pre-game, throughout the game, and one hour post-game.
