Games of Texas Recap: 7,500+ Athletes, 18 Broken Records and an $8.1 Million Impact

The 2026 Texas Amateur Athletic Federation’s Summer Games of Texas brought more than 7,584 athletes from across the state to College Station and Bryan from July 30-Aug. 2, injecting an estimated $8.1 million into the local economy.

The Olympic-style festival featured 10 sports at venues across both cities and the Texas A&M campus. Thousands of coaches, family members and friends traveled to the area, providing a major boost to local restaurants, hotels and businesses throughout the four-day event.

The cities of Bryan and College Station, along with Texas A&M, have hosted the Games nine times – six since 2014. After the next four years in Pharr and Lubbock, future host cities will be selected through a competitive bid process.

Participation Breakdown

  • Track & Field: 5,029 (Merrill Green Stadium at Bryan High School)
  • Swimming: 1,637 (Rec Center Natatorium at Texas A&M)
  • Futsal: 300 (Legends Event Center)
  • Ultimate Frisbee: 180 (Bryan Regional Athletic Complex)
  • Boxing: 140 (Hilton College Station)
  • Tennis: 134 (George P. Mitchell Tennis Center at Texas A&M)
  • Archery: 60 (Brazos County Archery Club)
  • Pickleball: 45 (Bryan Tennis Center)
  • Golf: 35 (City Course at Phillips Event Center)
  • Horseshoes: 24 (Sue Haswell Park)

A total of 7,584 athletes participated in this year's events.

Event Highlights

  • 18 state records broken and 403 gold medals awarded in swimming and track and field.
  • 5,029 track & field competitors (108 local) ran through 719 total heats over four days, including 239 heats on Saturday.
  • 198 tennis matches were played over 3 days by athletes ranging from 9 to 69 years old. This included 5 current/former coaches, with one coach and a former student winning the Women’s Open Doubles division.
  • The lowest 18-hole golf score was 77 (+5).
