City of Bryan Celebrates Launch of Amazon Delivery Station
Amazon’s newest delivery station, WBY1, is now in business in Bryan, powering the last mile of Amazon's order process and providing faster package delivery to customers in Bryan and the surrounding area.
City of Bryan and Brazos County leadership attended a ribbon cutting on Friday, April 24, to officially launch the station. The 90,000-square-foot facility began operations in December, and is already processing around 13,000 packages a day, with the potential to double that capacity.
“The City of Bryan welcomes and thanks Amazon’s decision to invest in our community,” said Bryan Mayor Bobby Gutierrez. “Amazon’s choice affirms what we know: Bryan is a strategic hub in the Texas Triangle, offering access to major markets, a strong workforce, and a community built for growth. This facility will drive meaningful economic opportunity while delivering the fast, reliable service today’s economy demands. We appreciate Amazon’s confidence in Bryan and look forward to a strong, lasting partnership.”
Packages are shipped to the delivery station from Amazon Fulfillment and Sortation Centers, loaded into vehicles and delivered directly to customers' doorsteps. The facility also carries more than 10,000 of the most commonly purchased items by customers in the region, allowing for same-day delivery for some items.
The launch of the new facility is a strong indicator of economic development success, bringing one of the largest brands in the world to Bryan. The delivery station sits on land off of Mumford Road that was jointly owned by the City of Bryan and Brazos County. Once Amazon purchased the land, construction of the facility took less than a year.
“I often say Bryan works at the speed of business,” Gutierrez said. “With same-day and next-day delivery now an option in Bryan, it’s clear that Amazon recognizes the importance of working at the speed of business, too. I want to thank our Council, city and county leadership, and Amazon for fast-tracking this project, which opens up opportunities for the whole region.”
The facility employs and contracts more than 250 people. For information on open positions, visit Amazon’s jobs website.
