Watch the Bryan City Council Meeting Recording – July 8, 2025 – Rental Agreement with Ventura Sports Group for a Mid-America League Baseball Franchise at Travis Major Field
The Bryan City Council has approved a rental agreement with Ventura Sports Group to bring a Mid America League Baseball (MALB) franchise to Travis Major Field beginning in 2026.
The three-year agreement includes an annual rental fee of $32,000 and net revenue sharing from advertising, sponsorships, concessions and broadcasting rights. It also includes an independent league exclusivity clause that does not apply to amateur baseball or softball events, such as little leagues or high school games.
MALB operates similarly to a minor league, offering players the opportunity to earn income during the season through a league-wide name, image and likeness (NIL) program. Rosters can include up to 40 players, consisting of NCAA Division I and other college athletes, as well as select players who have exhausted their college eligibility but want to retain amateur playing status. Bryan will be home to the seventh MALB franchise, joining existing teams in Abilene, Texas; Fort Smith, Arkansas; Joplin, Missouri; White Oak, Texas; Sherman, Texas; and Texarkana, Texas.
“We are excited to be part of the next chapter at Travis Major Field,” said Mark Schuster, managing partner of Ventura Sports Group. “We’ve been in the sports and entertainment business for more than 35 years, and when we saw the news that the Brazos Valley Bombers were moving, we reached out to the City of Bryan right away. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in communities by providing wholesome, affordable family entertainment year-round, and Bryan is a great fit for that vision.”
The Brazos Valley Bombers have played at Travis Major Field under an exclusive facility use agreement with Infinity Sports Entertainment that will expire Dec. 31, 2025. Over the 18 years of that agreement, the City of Bryan covered the cost of rent and utilities.
“For nearly two decades, the City of Bryan has proudly supported the Brazos Valley Bombers. We respect the Bombers’ decision to leave Bryan and wish them continued success in their new home in College Station,” said Bryan Mayor Bobby Gutierrez. “Selecting Ventura Sports for a Mid America League Baseball franchise ushers in a new and exciting chapter of baseball at this historic Bryan baseball facility. I am confident it will bring continued investment in Travis Major Field and Travis Bryan Midtown Park, and adds another family-friendly activity in Bryan.”
Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, the City of Bryan will assume full management of Travis Major Field, including scheduling and operations.
