If you’re looking for a new furry friend, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to find them. The Bryan Animal Center is participating in the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative, which helps find loving homes for every animal in the shelter.
We’ve told you how to beat the heat and have fun in Bryan this summer. But what about staying safe while you’re having your summer fun? Here are three tips to keep your body safe and make sure that you don’t get beaten by the summer heat.
We sweat more in the summer than any other time of the year. So, it’s very important to stay hydrated. When rehydrating, be sure to drink water, not other drinks like sodas which don’t replenish your body as well. In addition to keeping yourself hydrated, make sure your pets are getting plenty of water as well and never leave them in a hot car during the summer.
Protect Your Skin
There’s nothing like boxing up those winter jeans and jackets and pulling out your tanks, shorts, and sundresses. But remember, the more your skin is exposed to the sun, the more protection it will need from sunburns. Always put on sunscreen before going outdoors, and make sure you’re using sunscreen that has enough protection depending on your own personal skin requirements. Also, if you’re outside for an extended period of time, make sure to reapply your sunscreen at various times, and seek shady spots when possible.
Protect Your Eyes
It may seem minor, but just like your skin, your eyes need more protection in summer due to the power of the sun’s rays. By using UVA and UVB blocking sunglasses, a hat, or a combination of the two, you’ll save your eyes from painful damage caused by the sun.
