Six new playgrounds installed in Bryan parks

As part of the City of Bryan Parks Improvement Plan, six parks throughout the community received new playground equipment. In addition to this project, city crews have distributed new benches, BBQ grills, tables, and trash cans to approximately 25 parks.

The parks with new playground equipment, are as follows:

Austin’s Colony Park

A new play structure replaced the existing one that is used by both the community and school. The new structure is targeted at ages 2-12 and include slides, landings, climbers and has a bonded shredded rubber mulch fall zone.

Playground hours:
Monday – Friday (during school year), open by 5 p.m.
Weekend and summer months, open all day.

Castle Heights Park

The previous structure had exceeded its life expectancy and was in need of replacing. The new structure is suitable for ages 5-12 and includes a main structure with slides, landings, climbers, monkey bars and a rock wall. It has a bonded shredded rubber mulch fall zone.

Greenbrier Park

This new park received a playground unit, exercise equipment and a walking path extension. The playground equipment includes a shaded play structure, slides and climbing areas. The exercise equipment includes six elements for community use. The trail was extended from its current end at Glencairn Court to Arundala Way.

Henderson Park

At Henderson Park, two existing play structures that exceeded their life expectancy were combined into one play area and relocated out of the floodplain. The new play area is targeted toward ages 2-12 and includes a shaded picnic table, main play structure with slides, climbers and various levels, and separate four-seat swing set and climbing structure. The entire area has a bonded shredded rubber mulch fall zone.

New Henderson Playground

Ibarra Park

A new play structure replaced the existing one at Ibarra Park, which exceeded its life expectancy. The new structure is for ages 5-12 and includes a main structure with slides, landings, climbers and monkey bars. It also has a bonded shredded rubber mulch fall zone.

Shirewood Park

The existing play structure at this park was replaced with a new structure geared towards ages 2-12. The new structure includes slides, ladders, landings, sensory panels and climbing features and has a bonded shredded rubber mulch fall zone.
