About Hugh
Hugh Walker began his career in municipal government with the City of Bryan as the Assistant to the City Manager in 1995. Hugh was promoted to Assistant City Manager in 1998 and is currently a Deputy City Manager – a position he has held since 2000.
Receiving a BA from Central Washington University and later obtaining a MPA from the University of North Texas, Hugh complements his years of employment in the public sector with an exceptional educational background.
Hugh includes in his employment experience eight (8) years in the private sector and three (3) years in the non-profit arena. Along with an extensive employment history comes Hugh's professional associational involvement. Hugh is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Texas City Management Association (TCMA), including a term as past President of TCMA Region 7.
Hugh's organizational involvement does not end there. Hugh devotes countless hours to community volunteer activities. He and his wife Shelley, along with their two daughters, MaKayla and Madisen, can be seen around the community involved in various civic activities and organizations.
Hugh, Shelley, MaKayla, and Madisen are proud to call Bryan “home” and enjoy “Bryan, Texas…the Good Life, Texas Style".
