Bryan City Cemetery Work Day and Quarterly Cleanups

Two men spread filler dirt next to a grave marker in Bryan City Cemetery during a cemetery cleanup day.

Looking to make a difference in your community? Join us for the 29th annual Bryan City Cemetery Work Day on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The cemetery is located at 1111 North Texas Avenue.

Volunteers are needed to assist with cleaning gravesites and maintaining the cemetery grounds. You may bring your own hand tools, but power tools are not allowed.

A potluck lunch will be available. Feel free to bring a dish to share.

In addition to the annual event, quarterly cleanups are scheduled for Bryan City Cemetery and Oakwood Cemetery:

  • May 6 – 10
  • Aug. 5 – 9
  • Nov. 4 – 8

During these cleanups, non-compliant items such as loose objects (e.g., glass, ceramic, statues, decorations) and faded or tattered flowers, whether live or artificial, will be removed in accordance with cemetery ordinances (Sec. 22-5).

Once removed, we request that these items not be repositioned, as the cemetery sexton reserves the right to remove any items that violate the ordinance.

These cleanup efforts help preserve the dignity of these resting places.

For questions, call Cemetery Sexton Robert Jackson at 979-209-5230 or email rojackson@bryantx.gov.
